Preseason Around the Corner

September 28- The Hofstra Rec team, under the guidance of associate head coach A.J. Frey, has come out of the gates roaring, picking up win on back to back nights, both in thrilling fashion.

In the first game Hofstra started off with 2 quick goals by Eric Malament, and Kevin Ansel. Versus then put 2 goals in themselves around the midpoint of the first period. In the second period each team scored a goal in the last minute. The Hofstra goal was scored by Jordan Caruso.

In the 3rd period Brandon Borresen put in two goals in 30 seconds to take the lead. The final score was Hofstra 5- Versus 4.

The second game started off with a goal by Brandon Borresen in the last minute of the first period to give Hofstra a 1-0 lead. In the 2nd period on the power play Brandon Borresen put in another goal after a nice pass by Jordan Caruso. Special Delivery then answered with there own power play goal at the midpoint of the period. At the 12 minute mark special delivery then put in a shorthanded goal to tie up the game.

The 3rd period started with a quick goal by Special Delivery to take 3-2 lead. Then at the mid point of the period Hofstra D-1 goalie Jared Occhicone who is playing defense for the Rec team scored to tie up the game. Then at the 12 minute mark Occhicone scored another goal to give Hofstra a 4-3 lead. Then with 26 seconds to go Special Delivery tied up the game to take it into a shootout.

The first 3 shooters for Hofstra were Brian Anderson, Brandon Borresen, and Jared Occhicone. Borresen and Occhicone each put in a goal but Special Delivery put in two themselves. Then in the 6th round Special Delivery took the lead in the shootout. Hofstra 6th round shooter was Anthony Gullo scored with a beautiful wrist shot to tie up the shootout. Goalie Pat Neely came up big with some clutch saves in the shootout. In the 8th round forward Kenny Joseph scored to win the shootout. The final score was Hofstra 5- Special Delivery4.
